Firehouse Stew

Ingredients -

1 pound Lean Ground Beef
1/2 pound Hot Italian Sausage
1 large White Onion, chopped
3 Garlic Cloves, minced
2 (15 ounces each) cans Diced Tomatoes
1 head Green Cabbage, chopped
1 (15 ounces) can Tomato Puree
1 cup Cold Water
3/4 cup Worcestershire Sauce
dash of White Sugar

1/2 package sliced Smoked Sausage or Kielbasa
Hot Sauce to taste, optional

 
Preparation:

1. Add ground beef and Italian sausage to large skillet. Crumble with wooden spoon.

2. Sauté over medium heat 5 minutes.

3. Stir in chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until meat is browned.

4. Drain off excess fat. Spoon meat mixture into slow cooker.

5. Stir in diced tomatoes, chopped cabbage, tomato puree, water, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, smoked sausage and hot pepper sauce.

6. Cover and cook on LOW 12 hours.

Do not substitute with red cabbage. Red cabbage dyes other foods purple.
